There is such a thing as lawn etiquette. Following some of the simple lawn etiquette rules you will please your neighbors, visitors, and people walking or driving by your house. The first and most obvious rule of lawn etiquette is to make sure you cut your lawn regularly and that it does not grow too long and looks like it is wild grass that no one is doing the upkeep for. The second and probably the second most obvious rule of lawn etiquette is to keep your trees and bushes under control. I don’t mean so that they aren’t misbehaving but rather, just like the lawn, do not grow to large and they look like no one is living at the house taking care of it. The third rule of lawn etiquette is to take care of your leaves in the fall. If you don’t take care of your leaves in the fall by either raking them up or mulching them up with your lawn mower there is a very good chance they will end up on your neighbors lawns. Most likely your neighbors are cleaning up their leaves and they don’t want to do any more work than they need to and clean up your leaves because you didn’t. Going back to the first two “rules of lawn etiquette” about keeping up with your lawn, trees, and bushes this rule is for a few reasons. One reason is to keep your neighborhood looking the best it can. You don’t want to be the reason someone doesn’t want to buy your neighbors’ houses. Another reason is to protect your house. If burglars were looking for a house to break into they might rob the house that looks like people aren’t there that often. So follow these few little rules of lawn etiquette and your neighbors and you will be much happier.
